Gloucester Futures

Inspiring confidence, competence and curiosity in the next generation

10th-14th August 2026

I am pleased to announce a new initiative to support the young people of Gloucester in exploring their futures. This summer, between 10th and 14th August, we will be offering a fully funded week-long programme working with local businesses to develop skills and discover different industries, from the BBC to Fasthosts - with a trip to London and the Houses of Parliament.

This structured programme explores skills and industries, such as speech writing, broadcast journalism and management apprenticeships, with the guidance of industry professionals. Hosted by businesses around Gloucester, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn about employment prospects in the city and give that extra guidance to young people who do want to work and learn but lack support and confidence.

During this week, you will have the opportunity to:

·         Explore broadcast journalism with the BBC

·         Explore the creative industries with Music Works

·         Get coding and website building with Fasthosts

·         Dive into the world of sports careers with Gloucester Rugby

·      Get a look at the new University of Gloucestershire City Campus

Plus a visit to London and the Houses of Parliament!

To apply, you must be:

  • A constituent of Gloucester

AND

  • Aged between fifteen and eighteen
