A Royal Mail update, plus more money for buses
Last week I sat down with Blair McDougall, the Minister with responsibility for Royal Mail.
I raised with him the significant problems facing Royal Mail in Gloucester and outlined the huge impact this is having on constituents across the city.
He was incredibly frustrated to hear about the challenges we are facing and he is going to raise the matter at a national level with the CEO of Royal Mail.
In the meantime, I understand a number of other MPs are facing similar issues with Royal Mail. I will be convening a meeting with other affected MPs early in the New Year, so that we can coordinate action to hold Royal Mail bosses to account.
The government is investing an additional £14,460,492 in Gloucestershire's buses between 2026-2029
I'm really pleased to see that multi-year funding is being introduced to give local authorities the ability to invest over the longer-term. What concerns me now as Gloucester's MP is that a fair proportion of this funding gets invested in our city.
