Action for our high streets

Today in the chamber I took the opportunity to ask the Government to take quicker action to support our high streets. A thriving high street is a sign of a thriving city.

I believe that over the coming years we will see the buzz return to Gloucester city centre. The signs are already there, with new independent coffee shop soon opening in The Forum, and Lounges opening in Kings Square this spring.

The decline of our high streets is often pointed toby our political opponents as a sign of bigger failings in our society, as a sign we're going the wrong way.
