I've heard from so many residents about the problems with street drinking and anti-social behaviour in our city centre, and how unsafe it makes visitors, residents and businesses feel. That's why I asked the Minister of State, Sarah Jones, about how the government will tackle this.
Some good news - from this week, Respect Orders are being rolled out to help police, councils and housing associations take stronger action against repeat offenders causing antisocial behaviour. These orders can ban persistent street drinking in problem areas and can also require people to get support such as drug or alcohol treatment.
I hope to see improvements to Gloucester city centre with these reforms but will keep working with stakeholders across the city to make our city feel safer.
