Tackling concerns about Gloucester’s postal service

Last week in Gloucester

Last week I had a meeting at Gloucester North delivery office to raise again your concerns about the postal service in our city. I met with managers, posties and members of the CWU.

Royal Mail are not delivering to the standards people expect- I have made clear that it's unacceptable and asked what plans are in place to improve things. Some of the challenges are national, but where changes can be made locally I want to see this happen. There are some signs of progress at Gloucester North, with forty vacancies down to eight.

It's not right that parcels are being prioritised over post, and this is something that I'm going to raise with the Minister and Royal Mail's national leadership.

We have to make sure we are prioritising our posties with fair terms and conditions and not the current two-tier contract that we're seeing.

I will continue to fight for Gloucester residents to ensure we all get the postal service we deserve.
