Waiting lists down!

Waiting lists at Gloucestershire Royal down by 9,552 since July 2024!

When Labour took power in 2024 there were 50,000 people on a waiting list at GRH. That number has now fallen by almost 20%, putting us on track to achieve our 18 week standard for 92% of patients by 2029.

There is a huge amount of work to do to get our NHS back on its feet. However, bit by bit we can see the tide turning, with ambulances arriving quicker, GP satisfaction up and A&E waits coming down too.

This is not an easy process and our ambition is high, but the NHS has risen to it. We set a target of two million extra elective appointments in the first year. Instead, more than five million additional tests, procedures and operations were delivered between July 2024 and June 2025.

There is much more to do. But we are modernising the system and proving that we’re moving towards something simple and powerful: when you need the NHS, we will make sure that it's there, and it won't keep you waiting.
