Community groups, free travel and the pin factory
Folk of Gloucester
Fantastic to see work starting at The Folk of Gloucester to restore the Pin Factory Annexe. I was really pleased to write a letter of support in favour of these plans last year and am delighted that Historic England saw the potential in the project.
Anyone who has visited this building will know what an incredible historical and cultural space it is. If you've never visited before do check it out. Gloucester Civic Trust run a wide range of exhibitions and events throughout the year.
Working with the community
Good to meet with representatives from the Sudanese community in Gloucester recently to discuss local and international concerns.
I am always really pleased to meet with local community groups, to learn more about their aspirations and ambitions and how I can support them to continue to play a role in the wider life of our city.
Thanks to Cllr Sajid Patel for putting us in touch
Free travel for young people
Do you know a young person who meets one of the criteria below? If they are aged between 14 and 25, why not encourage them to apply for a bursary to support their travel across Gloucestershire?
Thanks to government funding and a range of local organisations working together, including the fantastic Young Gloucestershire, young people who are care experienced, looking to engage in youth provision or who are experiencing rural isolation could benefit from a bursary towards their travel.
The fund also supports young people who are not in or are at risk of not being in education or employment. It's really good to see schemes like this offering practical support to young people when they really need it.
